ABOUT RUSSELL SAWYER
Russell W. Sawyer, M.D., J.D. has been caring for patients since he started his Surgical Internship at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. While there, he served as the Chief Surgical Resident before starting a private practice in Santa Rosa, California.
After a Fellowship in Endovascular Interventions, Dr. Sawyer worked closely with Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to institute the Endovascular Surgical Program, which broadened the surgical capabilities of staff to effectively treat patients with vascular disease. Among the other accolades he received while working with Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital was obtaining certification for the hospital as a Level 2 Trauma Center, which elevated the level of care available at that facility and for the greater Sonoma County area.
Twice, Dr. Sawyer has served as Faculty at “Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery” the Nation’s foremost Trauma Conference, speaking on multi-casualty incidents and rural trauma, as well as other pertinent topics. His Board Certification (and re-certification twice) along with his experience in Quality Assurance, make him keenly aware of the highest standards of care that must be a priority for every physician, hospital, and other health care provider.
For more than 12 years, Dr. Sawyer has served as a Trauma Medical Director, and currently acts as the Director of Acute Care Surgery at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital.
